Mbeli Bai: Club Ebobo Education Program
The Mbeli Bai Study has been running a conservation education program (Club Ebobo) since 1998. Activities expanded in 2005 to include an additional school in Makao in the north-east of the Nouabalé-
Ndoki National Park have continued, so that Club Ebobo is currently being conducted in two villages (including Bomassa, the location of the park’s headquarters). Club Ebobo is currently reaching around 200 school children (including Bangombe pygmies) and the participation in the education sessions remains stable. Club Ebobo Nature Club, (“ebobo” means “gorilla” in the Lingala language),
is open to any children in the village and, through participation in Club sessions, many children who have formerly not visited the school are now regularly seen during school hours. |
